Yoga Vidya Retreat Centre is located on the outskirts of idyllic spa town of Bad Meinberg and surrounded by the beautiful “Silvaticum” park. Nearby you will find the Extern Stones, a wonder of mother nature and a sacred place of devotion since the germanic age and throughout the middleages. The Yoga Vidya Retreat Centre is in the form of a „Chakra-Pyramid“, with seven floors in an ascending order. The chakra symbolises the holistic human development that can be attained by following the path of Yoga. Many ancient pyramids, in Egypt, Mesopotamia and Mesoamerica were built with seven floors for direct energetic reasons. The „Chakra-Pyramid“ is home to lobby, appartments rooms, offices, lounges, yoga rooms and guestrooms. Additional wings contain other dining halls, the guesthouse with guestrooms, excercise and lecture rooms. The Center lies in quiet surroundings but is still easy to reach by either car or train: 27 km to Paderborn, 10 km to Detmold, 35 km to Bielefeld and 100 km to Hannover. The train station is Horn-Bad Meinberg; we offer shuttle services free of charge. Our daily yoga routine of exercise, breath control, relaxation, mantra-chanting and meditation has positive effects on body, mind and spirit. The powerful silence of mother nature will help you to really soothe your mind, to tune to your inner self and to recharge your energies. In addition to seminar schedules there are two daily meditation sessions with mantra-chanting and one daily yoga class. The Yoga Vidya Retreat Center is managed by Shivakami Bretz.

Activities

This particular part of Ostwestfalen/Lippe is renowned for being Europe´s “herbal remedies garden”. The amazing density of spas, sanatoriums, thermal springs, natural springs and spots of power makes this area a true singularity. Celtic and germanic sanctuaries were countless, and in the Middle Ages, convents were abound here. For centuries if not millenia, people have been draw to this area to seek calmness, silence, spiritual awareness and experience their inner being. Horn-Bad Meinberg is exceptional in that the town encompasses two strong natural energies. Male energy is expressed in the high-rising Extern Stones, which are to be found in Horn and which pass a feeling of strength onto the visitor. Female energy manifests itself in Bad Meinberg´s thermal springs and the moors, symbolising water and earth. Also the region has an ancient tradition of sulphur-moor treatment, the calciumsulphate aquatherapy and the carbonate bath.
